CDS slightly double struck NEW YORK FEB 11
Letter addressed to Jehiel Gardner Shipman (1818-1892), attorney and father of George Marshall Shipman (1850-1928), presiding Judge of Warren County courts. Jehiel moved to Belvidere in 1844 and soon passed the bar. He became a renown trial lawyer. He was also a director of the Belvidere National Bank, secretary of the Warren Railroad company and counsel for the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad Company. Sometime after 1870, Jehiel and George joined in their practice under the firm of J G Shipman & Son.
