Letter addressed to Elisha B. Harvey (1819-1872), attorney, and father of historian Oscar Jewell Harvey. He was a Colonel of the 7th regiment of volunteers in the Army of the Potomac and fought in the 7 Days battle in Mechanicsville in June of 1862. He was wounded at Gainesville and was honorably discharged on July 4, 1862. Returning to Wilkes Barre, he was involved with city politics and business throughout the rest of his life.
