This Scott #1 on Philadelphia cover to NY is enclosed around an elegantly drafted 2-page letter dated “12 months” (Dec) 25, 1847, or Christmas Day the first year of issue. This pale red brown shade has 4 clear margins and is tied by a dark ultramarine circular grid cancel with matching town cancel.
