Col. Samuel Churchill became one of the Missouri delegates to the 1860 Democrat National Convention. Annie S. Churchill was Anna Maria Sevier Churchill (1830-1917), daughter of Senator Ambrose Hundley Sevier (1801-1848), a territorial delegate and one of the first US Senators from the state of Arkansas, and wife to Col Samuel Churchill’s son Thomas James Churchill (1824-1905) who moved to Little Rock in 1848, became the postmaster in 1857, and was a Major General in the CSA Army during the Civil War, serving under Kirby Smith in Kentucky and Arkansas. He served as the 13th Governor of Arkansas (1881-1883).
