Joseph Carpenter Morse was born in Columbia County, in the year 1800…opened an office for legal practice in the village of Courtlandville. (Memorial of the Morses, published in 1850)
According to the text, Joseph was born on March 20, 1800 and died on Jan 20, 1848 (p123), making this an 1847 usage.
