Alexander listed as 8/16/50 from Baltimore to Winchester Va.
Letter to Philip Williams, Jr. (1802-1868), attorney. He worked as a deputy clerk for his father who was Clerk of the County of Shenandoah. Later he studied law in Richmond and was admitted to the bar in 1823. Eventually, he became the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Shenandoah County, VA, and in 1831 became its representative in the Virginia House of Delegates. In 1834, Williams moved to Winchester, VA practiced law with David W. Barton. He was the first president of the Shenandoah Valley Bank.
