1847 5c COVER WITH RARE "PAID" CANCEL (IN BLUE) OF BALTIMORE; 27 Nov. "1847" (internal filing note) E to "Washington D.C." unusually centrally franked by the 1847 5c Brown (Scott No.1; fine colour and good to very wide margins) centrally cancelled by a very fine small blue "PAID" matching the mainly very fine adjacent "BALTIMORE/Md" c.d.s. The stamp is not tied but clearly belongs (now being hinged to the cover). A wonderful stamp and a rare cancel; although Philadelphia regularly used its "PAID" mark as a cancellation, it is rare to find Baltimore
