1847, 5¢ dark brown (Scott No. 1a). A remarkable and exquisite deep chocolate shade, large margins on three sides including 4½mm sheet margin at right and with portion of adjoining stamp at top, just in at left, cancelled by two strikes of blue grid, bold matching "Annapolis MD. Oct 5" c.d.s. on 1848 folded letter to Baltimore, fine and rare usage. Estimate $1,000-1,500
