Lot 5 5c Red Brown (1), ample margins to just shaving frame line at top left, bright appealing color and fine impression, probably from the reworked plate of 1850, used from Hallowell Me. and tied by flawless strike of 16 Thin-bar open grid with hollow center in blue, matching Apr 27 cds at left, on buff cover to nearby Kent’s Hill, Maine. Very Fine, possibly the finest example of this rare fancy cancel. Est $2000-3000
ED: Only three examples of this fancy cancel exist on an 1847 issue cover. (this cover, the 11/7 cover and the 12/9 cover)
