Letter datelined Nov 27, 148 and contains a receipt of 8 barrels of oil from Partmon Houghton on board the schooner Roanoak to Preston Smith on Nov 22, 1848. Mr Houghton forwarded this to Smith & Boynton in NY to receive payment of $2.40 for the oil.
The letter was received in NY on Dec 1st.
