Lot 2350 10c Black (2). Large margins to clear, intense shade, tied by criss-crossing red open grid cancel, matching Brunswick Me. Sep. 6 circular datestamp on 1847 folded letter to New York, manuscript Paid/Ch. 89 at upper left, light vertical file folds well away from stamp, some soiling, otherwise Fine, the sender, Rev. M. L. Wood, added instructions to charge his account, by this time the Brunswick post office had received a supply of stamps and so the postmaster affixed one and charged the box for the postage, illustrated and discussed in an article in Chronicle 218 (copy accompanies), ex Krug, signed Ashbrook, with 1998 P.F. certificate¨E. 750-1,000
