Notes
Lot 43 5c Red Brown (1), four margins including part sheet margin at left, tied by 2 of 3 strikes blue grid to folded letter to Calais, Me., postmark matching Augusta, Me. cds, also blue 5c and Adv with the 3rd strike of the grid cancelling both, all markings are in the same ink; a most interesting cover with a number of possible explanations, none of which can be certain, but Advertised markings on the 1847 issue are extremely rare.
