United States # 2 1847 New Orleans to Galveston Texas Rare Usage ! 4 margins !
The stamp is a lovely 4 margin example with no faults . The usage is Rare the U.S. Classics Society online census records only 9 examples of #2 being sent to texas and this is only 1 of 2 being sent from Louisiana. The last cover like this sold at a Siegel Auction 2006 Rarities of the World and Realized $2200 . The #2 on this cover is far more attractive !

Alexander listed as 1/5/51 to unknown town in Texas but was actually mailed in 1850 (see docket on reverse).
Letter addressed to Henry Noble Potter (1817-1863) and Mark Milton Potter (1819-1863), attorneys in Galveston, Texas. Mark Potter served as alderman in Galveston in 1851, the Texas House of Reps (2nd , 9th Legislature) and Texas State Senator of District 17 (Galveston) in 1855-1858 (5th thru 8th Legislatures). Henry served in the Seventh Congress of the Republic of Texas (1842-43).
