It Is A Genuine Usage, The Stamp With A Small Crease At Bottom
Note, this cover may have been written in St Louis on Dec 1, 1848 but it was sent by steamer to New Orleans and did not enter the US Mails until it reached that city. Therefore, it will continue to be listed as 12/xx/48, with a likely date of either the 10th or 11th.
