Cover internal dateline not provided and Alexander’s notes speculate this may be part of the 1851 correspondence.
Alexander listed as 5/8/xx
I believe this is part of the 1851 correspondence for the following reasons:
1. This cover is addressed nearly identically to the 5/4/51 cover (same handwriting, same content)
2. The stamp ms cancellation is similar.
3. The Way 1 marking is written by the same hand and in the same location on the cover.
4. The cds is similarly orientated and in the same location on the cover.
All these features being identical point to a few days separation in time, not years.
