Jan. 21 circular datestamp and two strikes of Steam 5 in double-circle due handstamp on brown cover to Buchannon Carroll & Co. in New Orleans, clearly applied stencil UNCLE SAM Mississippi River name-of-boat marking at lower right and endorsed pr Uncle Sam at top, considerable ink erosion in writing and bleed-thru on inside, vertical file folds, one of which passes thru stamp, otherwise Fine, this well-pedigreed cover
ex Matthies, Simmons, Peyton, Warm and Kapiloff is signed Guaranteed Genuine by Ezra D. Cole, yet the presence of the Steam 5 due markings makes the 5c 1847 stamp superfluous; with 2012 P.F. certificate stating that the stamp did not originate, offered and estimated as a rare stampless cover and off-cover 5c stamp
