1847, 5¢ dark brown (1a), vertical pair, ample to large margins, rich color and superb impression from an early printing, tied by criss-cross pen strokes in blue, on 1847 folded letter to Van Buren, Ark., "New Orleans La. Nov. 20" c.d.s. in black, rust mark at far right edge, otherwise exceptionally fresh, Very Fine, rare destination. Illustrated in Alexander, p. 135. Estimate $3,000-4,000
