Letter datelined January 15, 1850 and sent by Motgomery, Davidge & Co in Louisville, Ky.
Rezin Davidge, Jr (1813-1902) was a Kentucky merchant but moved to New York around 1853, where he became a merchant and importer in Richmond on Staten Island.
Montgomery & Davidge were wholesale dry good dealers in Louisville in the 1850s. They are listed in the 1854 Mercantile Union Directory and Louisville newspaper ads in 1854 and 1855.
Letter sent in care of Burnham & Plumb. The 1854 Rode New York City Directory lists Gordon W Burnham and James M. Plumb & Co as importers, manufactureres, and commission merchants at 175 Broadway and 2 Cortlandt Street.
CDS date appears to be JAN 16 or 18.
