Lot 88 1847, 10¢ black (2), large to clear margins, central pen cancel, "Doakesville Ark./June 10" c.d.s. on envelope from Lt. Clinton W. Lear, stationed at Fort Towson, to his wife in New Orleans, stamp has small defects at top right and cover with some restoration, Fine for this, rare Indian Territory usage.

The bottom loop of the 3 in ˜30' is barely visible.
Lot 424 10c Black (2). Margins all around, bold pen cancel, on cover to New Orleans with black "Doakes Ville Ark. Jun. 30" cds from the Indian Territory, stamp with tear and creasing in T.R. corner, cover with usual toning and staining the homemade ink used on covers from this correspondence (Lear) was mostly responsible, otherwise Fine, inaccurately described in 1988 P.F. certificate as "restored", very rare territorial use of the 10c in condition typical of the four or five known Indian Territory usages of the 1847 Issue ..
