Notes
Galena / ILL / Jun 5 (1848), red-brown shade with large to huge margins including part margin sheet at top. Fresh bright impression with ˜X' ms. cancel on folded letter with contents and a 30 mm red cds.
Photographic enlargement of the cover and stamp reveals a manuscript ˜5' under the stamp. However, based upon the history of the cover, its previous owners, and its condition, the stamp is judged to have been affixed when mailed.

PF 62658 #1genuine stamp which did not originate on this stampless cover.
