Notes
5c Brown (1). Full to large margins, distinctive light grayish shade, vivid red grid, struck again at right over Chicago "5" in serrated oval, no town marking, on folded letter datelined "General Land Agency, Chicago, April 17, 1850" to Joliet, Extremely Fine, a fascinating usage, evidently marked "5" in error, then cancelled with the grid but not in conjunction with the usual Chicago town datestamp
