1847, 5¢ red brown (Scott No. 1). Four ample balanced margins, stunning bright rich color with razor-sharp impression, cancelled by vivid red "5" in cogged oval, matching "Chicago-Ill. Mar. 4" c.d.s. on 1850 folded letter to Marengo, Ill., manuscript "Paid" at top center, file folds, fresh Very Fine, stamp an Extremely Fine gem. Estimate $1,500-2,000 .
