1847, 5¢ red brown (No. 1), two singles, margins except left stamp just in at bottom, cancelled by matching manuscript cross hatching on 1850 folded letter, bold "Washn. Ga. Oct 31" c.d.s., old style postmark with manuscript date, applied between stamps, to Lancaster, N.Y.; small hole at center and bleed through of contents, Fine and rare. ¨Estimate $750-1,000.

AND WE ARE OF THE OPINION THAT
IT IS A GENUINE USAGE, EACH STAMP SLIGHTLY OXIDIZED WITH A LIGHT PRE-USE VERTICAL CREASE ALONG THE LEFT FRAME LINE; THE COVER WITH SOME INK EROSION AFFECTING THE ADDRESS AND CAUSING SOME VERTICAL SPLITTING.
