Description: January 1851 Letter from Savanna GA to Avize France. 5 cent stamp paid domestic rate to Boston, the port of embarkation.¨
Sailed on the Cunard ship Canada leaving Boston on 12 Feb arriving in Liverpool 23 Feb where it received the orange COLONIES/&c.ART.13. handstamp. Exchanged at Calais arriving in Avize 25 Feb. 15 decimes postage under the British-French postal treaty was collected on delivery. 10 decimes to England “ under 7 ½ grams.
