1847, 10¢ black (Scott No. 2). Large margins to just in at bottom, tied by bold pen strokes, on buff envelope to Berkley Mass. with ms. "Bainbridge Ga. Feby 23rd" postmark and matching "Paid", Fine. Estimate $750-1,000
THE ONLY RECORDED 1847 COVER FROM BAINBRIDGE.
Expertization: 1998 P.F. Certificate.
No 1847 stamps of either denomination were received at this office. Other than the Swift covers from Olive Grove, this is the only recorded manuscript Georgia town with an 1847 stamp.
