Letter written to Ellen A. Fickett (1832-), daughter of Francis Fickett Sr. (1798-1843) and Mary Augusta Sears (1803-1876). Francis was a shipbuilder and his firm, Crocker & Fickett, built the Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic, which was launched in 1818. Ellen married William A. Wood (1820-1882) in August of 1850
