Notes
Wilmington was the only Delaware Post Office to receive 1847's. Creighton Hart states that only nineteen 5's and one ten have been reported. He owns the ten. This is the only one reported from New Castle and the only green cancellation. PF 30523
U.S. classic stamps on Delaware covers [exhibit] / / Davidson, Robert L.D. -- [Canton? OH: U.S. Philatelic Classics Society, Inc.], [1989].
Actually, this description in Robert Davidson's exhibit is incorrect. This is not the New Castle cover listed by Hart. That cover, also with a green cancellation, is dated March 31, 18xx and is cover ID #827, also to Miss Eliza Taylor.
That cover is docketed '32.' This one is marked '30.' These must be the sequence numbers in a large correspondence. The two Newcastle covers are the only 1847 covers to Miss Eliza Taylor in Philadelphia. The rest of the correspondence may have been stampless.
