Lot 90 5c Red Brown (1). Horizontal strip of three, large margins to just in, each cancelled by neat ms. "X", "Wallingford Ct. Feb. 16" Valentine week circular datestamp with day in ms. and matching "Paid" handstamp on large folded cover to Middlebury Conn., tiny tear between second and third stamps, right stamp small tear at top, cover with few file folds not affecting stamp
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE USE OF A 5-CENT 1847 STRIP OF THREE TO PAY THE TRIPLE 5-CENT RATE ON A COVER WHICH UNDOUBTEDLY ENCLOSED A VALENTINE.
This is one of only three recorded usages from Wallingford Conn. (and the only multiple franking).

IT IS A GENUINE USAGE, THE RIGHT STAMP WITH SMALL FAULTS AT TOP RIGHT, THE COVER WITH THE COVER CREASES AND TWO CORNER NICKS.
