Joseph Rockwell Swan (1802-1884) was an attorney in Columbus, Ohio. He partnered with John W Andrews, under the firm of Swan & Andrews (1845-54). In 1854 he was elected judge of the Ohio Supreme Court. He failed in his re-election attempt due to supporting the 1850 Fugitive Slave Law as constitutional in the famed Oberlin-Wellington Rescue case.
