Double Rate: Stamped cover with blue "NORWICH Ct." townmark (32mm) and blue 7 bar circle (18mm) cancel on two 5 cent 1847. The right hand stamp (dot in S) besides the Norwich blue cancel has what looks like an additional red cancel. Was stamp reused from period or added later? Post Office Act effective 1 July1845, single rate, under 300 miles 5 cents, prepaid or not. (Norwich (2), New London County, Connecticut, 1836-to date. (Formerly called Norwich City)
