It looks like the postal clerk corrected the date in the CDS from MAR 11. I can understand Richard Frajola thinking the actual date was MAR 14 but I’m inclined to believe that he actually wrote 12 (not using the printed 1 underneath to construct a 4). It is easy to accept a 1 day delay in mailing the letter (or forgetting to update the CDS) but a 3 day error is unlikely.
Letter addressed to Michael Shepard. (1786-1856) who shipped goods between East Africa, South America and the United States.
