Letter addressed to Abijah Catlin (1805-1891), comptroller of Connecticut (1847-1850). This Abijah was the third one listed in the Catlin Family papers at the Connecticut Historical Society. For a short while, Abijah was a partner in a grocery business in Columbus, Ga with his brother David and his brother-in-law Dana Hungerford (1835). He was also a lawyer and politician, serving his hometown of Harwinton in several offices including the state House of Representatives (10 terms), Judgeships, State Elector, and School Fund Commissioner.
