1847, 5¢ dark brown (1a), full to large margins, intense color and deeply etched impression, tied by centrally struck red grid, matching "New Haven Ct. Jul. 27" c.d.s. on 1848 green folded letter to Philadelphia, stamp has small surface split at bottom, otherwise Very Fine.
