PF 564939 - IT IS A GENUINE USAGE
The William and Mary Quarterly (Vol 18, No 3, Jul 1938, pp 291-93) published a Letter of Martha Selden Jones. In the 2nd footnote of that article – “…Patrick Gibson [of Richmond] and his second wife Martha Ann Elizabeth Macmurdo had four children … Elizabeth (?-1897), who married, first, the Rev Hobart M. Bartlett, by whom she had one child, Helen, and, second, George Gibson, her first cousin, by whom she had one child, a son, who died in childhood.”
Rev. Hobart M. Bartlett was an Episcopalian minister in Petersburg, Va.
According to Gibson family Papers, 1775-1938. Accession 25342 (Library of Virginia), “Ann Elizabeth Gibson [b. 1817] married Reverend Hobart Bartlett in 1839 and George Gibson in 1856.”
Dr. George S. Gibson is listed in the 1860 edition of Woods' Baltimore City Directory.
