5c Brown (1). Large to huge margins incl. part of adjoining stamp at top, tied by light strikes of magenta "Hartford Ct. 5 Feb. ?" circular datestamps on blue 1850 folded cover addressed to G. & C. Merriam in Springfield Mass., tiny tear at bottom right corner, otherwise Very Fine, with 1988 P.F. certificate as Red Brown, the Merriams were book publishers and sellers who bought the copyright for Webster's dictionary from J.S. & C. Adams in 1845, they first published the nationally, if not world-famous dictionary in 1847 and sold them for $6 each
