Notes
USA 1847 5c Franklin #1a on cover to England (??) appearance !! sold as stamp
[Cover is addressed to Miss Webb, Care of William Shortland(?) Esquire, Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York, mailed on July 12, 18xx. It is similar to a cover (#325) mailed to the same address from Hartford on July 17, 1848, with the same red ˜5' marking but the 7/17/48 cover also has a pointing hand handstamp and Plattsburgh is spelled properly with an ˜h'. Many other covers from Hartford have a manuscript pen cancel but they are all marked with a single ˜x'.]
May be a faked stampless cover
EBAY lot (filcaesar)
Not listed in Alexander.
