May (5) 1851, cover from Canada to London, via New York, franked with 3d beaver cancelled black target and strip of five of the 5¢ to pay the 24¢ rate across United States and to England, overpaid by 1 cent, according to the U.S.-British Treaty of 1848. One of the rarest classic cover of the United States Postal History. Ex Ishikawa, Craveri. (Sold by Christie's on September 1993 for $717,000 and privately by Grosvenor Auctions in 2005 for over a million dollars).
