1847, 10¢ black (No. 2), single with three wide margins, close to cutting frameline at bottom, crisp impression, tied to 1851 Kennedy correspondence folded letter datelined "Montreal Feby 3d 1851," red "Montral L.C./FE 3 1851" origin c.d.s., additional red "PAID" handstamp and manuscript "4½(d)" due rating, stamp tied by red "10" in circle applied upon arrival in New York; light file fold affects stamp, a Fine usage showing the 4d currency "to the lines" rate paid in cash and the U.S. over 300 miles rate paid by the 10¢ stamp, the Alexander census of U.S. 1847 issue covers list only twenty usages from Montreal to the U.S. being franked with 10¢ 1847 stamp. ¨Estimate $7,500-10,000
