Ample to large margins showing part of adjacent stamp at bottom, placed just slightly over edge of cover at right and cancelled by clear blue seven-bars-in-rectangle fancy cancel, matching "Cape Vincent N.Y. Mar. 4" cds on cover originating in Kingston, Canada, to Auburn N.Y., bold red "Kingston U.C. MR 3 1850" cds, receipt docketing at left, stamp barely affected from placement at edge (not noted on accompanying certificate)
VERY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING COVER ORIGINATING IN CANADA WITH THE 5-CENT 1847 CANCELLED BY A FANCY CANCEL.
Postage to the Canadian border was paid in cash. The stamp was cancelled at the exchange office. Ex Pope. With 1985 P.F. certificate
