1848 Doggett’s NYC directory lists Thomas Prosser as an importer located at 28 Platt Street. Scientific American lists him as a patentee for an improved shingle making machine. The NY Times (10/13/1865) shows Thomas Proser & Son at 28 Platt Street winning a Silver medal for best Boiler Maker's tools.
