Three Society members took Large Gold with Douglas Clark winning the Multi-frame Reserve Grand for “The Massachusetts Island Counties Postal History to 1890”. Doug Weisz took the Single-frame Grand for “New Orleans 5 Cent Provisional”. David Mayo’s exhibit “The U.S. 2 Cent Columbian of 1893” earned the USPCS Medal and the APS Award of Excellence Pre-1900.
The San Diego stamp show was held February 20th-22nd at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront as per usual.
Dan Knowles took the Multi-frame Grand with his exhibit, “Handling American Domestic and International Mail 1860-1869: The Decade of Turmoil and Expansion” (also the USPCS Medal and Multi-frame Large Gold).
Richard Taschenberg took the Multi-frame Reserve Grand with his exhibit, “Usage History of the ‘Pumpkin’ Envelopes. How and Where They Were Used” (also the Multi-frame Large Gold, UPSS Champion of Champion, and AAPE Creativity Award).
Three additional Society members won Multi-frame Large Gold for their exhibits.
- Mark Banchik for “Veracruz 1914 Occupation Revenues” (also the APS Award of Excellence: 1900-1940 and American Revenue Society Medal).
- Scott Prior for “Express Companies Serving the Gibsonville Ridge, Plumas and Sierra Counties, California, 1850-1870” (also the APS Award of Excellence: Pre-1900).
- Darrell Ertzberger for “Compliments of the Season: Christmas and New Year Greetings from U.S. Rural Carriers” (also the ATA Multi-frame First Award).
Dan Undersander took Single-frame Large Grand for “The 5 Cent Taylor Envelopes of 1875-1882” (also the UPSS Single Frame Champion of Champion).
Scott Prior and Dan Undersander also won Single-frame Gold with other exhibits.
Scott won for “Gold Rush Period Ocean to Ocean Express Companies”. Dan won for The First Issue US Six Cent Postal Stationery Envelope”.
