The U.S. Philatelic Classics Society will host three free talks by our Route Agents at the StampShow in Hartford, CT August 21-24, 2014 at the Connecticut Convention Center. All Show attendees are welcome to attend. The Show website is http://stamps.org/STAMPSHOW-SS.
The Society will have a Board of Directors meeting and fellow Route Agents will give presentations Friday and Saturday. On Friday, August 22 at 11:30am, Tom Lera will discuss “The National Postal Museum Lab and Its Focus on the Four-Cent Columbian Color Error.” On Saturday, August 23 at 11:00am, Casey Cook, the USPCS Fellow, Class of 2013; APS Young Philatelic Leaders Fellowship Program, will present “Interpreting Postal History: U.S. Philately from Generation to Generation.” Also on Saturday, at 3:00pm, John Birkinbine II will present “The 1855 10-cent Transcontinental Rate from San Francisco and the California Gold Mining Areas.” As always, the Society presentations provide a special opportunity to see unique items, and ask questions of experts, without any cost to attendees.
All Route Agents, and the general public, are invited to attend the presentations to show support for fellow Route Agents and to broaden their appreciation of the many facets of classic philately and its research through these one-hour talks.
