U.S.  Three  Cent  1851  Essays  for  Postage  Stamps
 (And  Related  Topics)

The USPCS presents a wonderful new book on CD-ROM coordinated and written by Roy Weber entitled "U.S. Three Cent 1851 Essays for Postage Stamps (And Related Topics)". This book is 328 lavishly illustrated (many in full color) pages on a special CD-ROM.

With 328 pages in a Microsoft Word file, this formidable CD-ROM is a study of the No. 11-E2 Essay subsequent to when the original hand engraved steel die was purchased by thirteen collectors and donated to the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in 2003. It has evolved into a study of all the three-cent 1851 essays and the companies that engraved and printed them. There are virtually too many illustrations (many hundreds of them in full color) to count... but suffice to say that this incredible CD-ROM is a "must have" for every member of the Classics Society.

The book, coordinated and written by Roy Weber with the valuable assistance of those listed below, contains 21 chapters including, but not limited to, the following topics: What is an Essay, Anyway? The Correct Engraving and Printing Fundamentals, Historical Efforts to Catalog the Essays, Bank Note Engravers, The Paper and Ink, The Smillie Scrapbook, The Schernikow Prints and so much more. We can’t emphasize enough the significance and sheer volume of research (and its results) contained in this outstanding work.
