FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

USPCS Sponsors YPLF Fellow for 2011-2012

September 24, 2011...The Classics Society is proud to support another Youth Philatelic Leadership Fellow for 2011-2012. At the APS StampShow this August, Alex Gill was announced as this year's U.S. Classics Society Fellow. Alex, who is taking the author track, will be the Classics Society's second Fellow. Alex looks forward "to meeting other youth stamp collectors, expanding my knowledge of philately, and meeting prominent collectors at stamp shows. Most importantly, I hope to inspire and encourage people to discover and enjoy the hobby of stamp collecting." To find our more information about this great program, please visit http://stamps.org/YPLF/Index.htm. The Classics Society would like to welcome him and wish him the best of luck in his endeavors this year. We look forward in seeing him at future shows.

While we usher in a new fellow, we must congratulate John Phillips who is our graduating fellow for 2010-2011. John, who took the Exhibitor track, had a successful year. He has much to look forward to and we wish him all the best in his future ambitions as an exhibitor.

The USPCS would like to congratulate John Barwis, our society Vice-President, on winning the prestigious World Series Champion of Champions with his exhibit "The Half-Lengths of Victoria, 1850-59". John won at the APS StampShow this past August in Columbus, Ohio.

About the U.S. Philatelic Classics Society, Inc.

The U. S. Philatelic Classics Society (USPCS) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) association of people interested in the pre-1894 stamps and postal history of the United States. Our goal is to promote interest and knowledge of philately through the encouragement of philatelic research, and through exchange of information among our members as well with other philatelic organizations. We do this by preparing and distributing philatelic literature and periodicals, particularly The Chronicle of the U. S. Classic Postal Issues and the Chairman's Chatter. We are operated entirely by volunteers, and welcome anyone interested in the "classic era" of American philately.
